Chinatown Together Projects Organizing and Development
The Chinatown Together Arts & Culture Society is seeking assistance in enhancing the planning, organizing, and development of its cultural projects and programming. The goal of this project is to build an effective logistic and administrative system that will increase our efficiency in developing community based and service based programming that serve low-income Chinese speaking elders in Chinatown. Students will apply their administrative and data collecting knowledge to develop logistical planning that would assist the execution of our cultural events and programs. The project will focus on the back end of project, program, and event organizing and developing, allowing students to use a well-rounded perspective when working with the practicalities of budget allocation, logistics processing, and data documentation to help advance and improve the quality of community and service based programming in Chinatown. By the end of the project, students will have gained practical experience working on community projects, program organizing, and capacity development within a culturally rich context. The role will also include the co-creation and leading two workshops at two separate events for Chinatown Together.
Chinatown Seniors Oral History Documentary
The Chinatown Seniors Oral History Documentary project aims to preserve and share the rich cultural heritage and personal stories of seniors living in Chinatown. By capturing these oral histories, the project seeks to document the unique experiences and contributions of Chinatown seniors, ensuring that their stories are accessible to future generations. The goal is to produce a short documentary that highlights the diverse backgrounds, challenges, and triumphs of these individuals, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinatown's cultural legacy. The project will involve interviewing seniors, transcribing their stories, and compiling the footage into a cohesive and engaging documentary. - Conduct interviews with selected seniors from the Chinatown community. - Transcribe and edit the recorded interviews for clarity and coherence. - Compile and edit video footage to create a 20-30 minute documentary. - Collaborate with team members to ensure the documentary reflects the cultural significance and personal narratives of the seniors.
