By participating in this project, students will gain practical experience in content creation and digital marketing strategies, while helping Scale Without Borders expand its reach and impact.

Events and Program Coordinator Internship

We provide programs & events for newcomers and work with enterprises on their newcomer strategy. We have an annual summit, smaller events and multiple programs coming up in 2022. We’re looking for an additional team member to work closely with the founder and team as a core organizer of our events, programs and activities. Our events are our signature offering - we bring trailblazer newcomers in tech to share their stories, and inspire all while curating a brilliant community of newcomers in tech to connect, learn, and have fun. The recruitment specialist intern will join an exciting social impact startup whose mission is to support newcomer tech talent. This is a brand new role and the successful candidate will help define it, grow it, and create uncharted impact through it. Changing immigrants' lives (through tech)

SWB Overview Scale Without Borders (SWB) is a social venture dedicated to helping newcomers and immigrants in tech & entrepreneurship succeed. We provide programs & events for newcomers and partner with enterprises/employers to work with newcomers. Since our  launch in late 2019, we have been able to help over 1000 immigrants access resources in tech. You can read more about the launch here.  Project Overview: In the summer of 2021, Scale Without Borders will be designing and running programs to help 100+ newcomers and immigrants learn skills, access knowledge and resources, and build the networks they need to succeed in tech. These programs are fun, nimble, high impact masterclasses that will help newcomers get to the next stage. Whether it is helping design the program, implementing the program, hosting sessions (speaking), or creating assessment metrics, your role will be to bring to life (with the support of the founder) impactful programs that will change newcomers’ lives. Goals: Develop programming to help 100+ immigrants in tech access resources. Social Media Campaign for newcomers in tech

About Scale Without Borders Scale Without Borders (SWB) is a social venture dedicated to helping newcomers in tech & entrepreneurship succeed. We provide programs & events for newcomers and work with enterprises on their newcomer strategy. SWB was launched in September 2019. You can read more about the launch here. About the project Scale Without Borders will be running events and programs throughout the summer to support newcomers in tech. Leading up to each event and program, SWB will be running a marketing campaign to bring these to a growing online audience of newcomers in tech and to keep them engaged with high value content. The content is mainly shared on our instagram page and includes various types including newcomer and/or tech success stories, features, SWB event & program announcements/promotions, resources, news and more. With the support of the founder, the ideal intern/student will create, lead and execute this marketing campaign over the course of the 2 months. The challenge: Can you over the course of 2 months lead a marketing campaign that will engage and double our instagram audience (from 500 to 1,000)? Do you have the out of the box thinking to come up with ideas, content, designs and execution that will bring high value content to our online audience and grow our community? Ideal candidate: Is visually creative and loves coming up with cool graphics & designs (especially for instagram) Loves learning about stories/news in the tech and newcomer space and converting them into cool posts for our social media (mainly instagram) Is allergic to grammar mistakes Enjoys playing around with canva Is a self-starter and can come up with out of the box content! Can produce high quality content (especially graphics) in a short period of time Nice to have: Has previously grown instagram pages before Is familiar and knows how to use instagram ads

Helping newcomers/immigrants in tech through cool content

Overview of Scale Without Borders: Scale Without Borders (SWB) is a social venture dedicated to helping newcomers in tech & entrepreneurship succeed. We provide programs & events for newcomers and work with enterprises on their newcomer strategy. SWB was launched in September 2019. You can read more about the launch here. Description of project: Scale Without Borders is launching a marketing campaign to break through to newcomers in tech and bring to them valuable content and access to resources in Canada. This marketing campaign which will last for 8 weeks will consist of thoughtful, well written, and value-adding content produced and curated by the successful student candidate. With the help of the supervisor (founder of Scale Without Borders), the student/intern will assess trends, news, research, and content relating to tech and newcomers (and the intersection of the two). The student/intern will then on a weekly basis translate these into engaging and relevant posts and share on certain social media channels (including LinkedIn, Twitter, SWB blog and other content relevant channels). Objective: The objective of this project is to over the course of 2 months plan and execute a marketing campaign that speaks to the newcomers in tech audience, engages them, and grows the online Scale without Borders community. The challenge: Alright, so here's the challenge: Can your engaging content grow our online community by 50% in 2 months? Here's where we're at right now: currently at 800 followers on Linkedin (so we're looking for 1200) currently at 800 followers on Twitter (so we're looking for 1200) currently at 1000 subscribers (so we're looking for 1500) currently at 500 followers on Insta (so we're looking at 750, although you won't need to worry too much about this channel) Remember, we can adjust key results and goals (we can create them together) but we will be using such metrics to measure the success of this project. Our ideal intern/student: loves writing and is allergic to grammar errors is a big fan of LinkedIn is a big fan of Twitter loves reading articles, research trends and news (and then summarizing them into cool posts & short blogs!) loves to get stuff done with urgency
