Reproductive Justice Secondary Research Exploration
The project aims to support WomenatthecentrE in their initiative, "Over-Represented, and Under-Protected," by conducting an environmental scan and literature review. This exploration will focus on identifying culturally relevant, community-driven approaches to reproductive justice for Indigenous, Black, and Afro-Indigenous communities in the Greater Toronto Area/Canada. The project will examine how these approaches, grounded in Indigenous and Black ancestral knowledge, address the unique reproductive health needs of IB-WG2SGDT individuals. It will also explore the systemic barriers these communities face and how culturally relevant methods work to navigate or overcome these challenges. By engaging in this research, the project seeks to contribute to building solidarity within and between these communities and encourage allyship by involving men and boys in critical discussions on gender-based violence and reproductive rights.
Sustainable Futures for Reproductive Justice
The project aims to develop a comprehensive sustainability plan for the "Over-Represented, and Under-Protected" initiative by WomenatthecentrE, which focuses on building a Reproductive Justice Framework for Indigenous, Black, and Afro-Indigenous communities in the Greater Toronto Area. The initiative seeks to address systemic barriers impacting these communities' reproductive and sexual health, including access to culturally safe healthcare, the effects of gender-based violence (GBV), and policy gaps. By engaging community members through participatory research and fostering solidarity among Indigenous, Black, and Afro-Indigenous communities, the project aims to reclaim ancestral knowledge and encourage allyship. The sustainability plan will ensure the project's long-term impact by identifying strategies for continued funding, collaboration, and knowledge sharing through a Reproductive Justice Exchange Hub.
