Simple & Smart Timesheet Portal for a Remote Healthcare IT Consulting Team
Project Summary: Honeydew Consulting is a boutique healthcare IT consulting firm that specializes in supporting hospitals using Epic’s laboratory software. We’re a small, nimble team of consultants who work remotely from various U.S. states and submit their hours and travel information manually—often over email or spreadsheets. We’re looking for a team of student developers to help us streamline this process by building a simple, secure, and user-friendly timesheet portal where our consultants can log in, enter their hours for a selected week, and optionally report travel expenses. The solution should be web-based and built with clean code and usability in mind. This tool will be used in production after the project ends, so thoughtful design, basic security, and maintainability are key. Key Objectives: Create a secure web portal with login functionality for employees. Let employees select a date range and enter time for each day or the whole week. Include a smart autofill feature (e.g. entering "40" auto-fills 8 hours per weekday). Allow users to indicate the state they worked from during that time. Provide a way to upload or enter travel-related expenses (simple form input or file upload). Admin users should be able to view submitted time entries (and optionally download/export them).

PROJECT SCOPE Our organization is able to offer a virtual internship opportunity for marketing students or teams. The primary focus for the student will be: Review and Understand Our Branding - assess where and how to improve our brand's presence and understand how we differentiate from our competitors. Honeydew stands alone in the caliber of our consultants and the benefits we provide them; a factor which attracts clients/recruits but is difficult to convey in a digestible format. Market Research - Investigate our competitive landscape (Epic Systems specific Healthcare IT for electronic medical records) and perform market segmentation to identify the ideal target audience for potential future consultants and hospital organizations. Work to gain insights into the perceptions and behaviors of our target customers to help identify expansion opportunities, and better hone key messaging for Honeydew. International client acquisition (Epic customers only) should be a primary focus. Marketing Communications - Recommend changes to advertising and PR materials by creating an integrated marketing campaign. So far marketing has been limited to very targeted individuals (Linked In messaging, email flyers, some social media/blog/website posts), a single airport ad, and word of mouth. The latter has been the most impactful by far, so we know there is more to accomplish if we improve our messaging and strategy. SEO and Strategic Social Media Marketing - Conduct an audit of our current social media presence and other current communication channels to develop and implement strategies for improving our online presence and increasing engagement. Our goal at the end of this experience is: Our Branding - For the students to help us improve our brand's presence and capture greater market share. Review current our current branding platform and provide recommendations to be more impactful. Market Research - For the students to help us gain a better understanding of our target market and ensure we are optimally positioned to engage with prospective clients. Marketing Communications - For the students to help us implement better prospecting that increases our access to Master Service Agreements and create a scalable plan for future expansion including helping us effectively communicate our brand's story and mission to a broad, yet targeted, audience. This can include a review/updates to our current marketing materials. SEO Strategy & Strategic Social Media Marketing - For the students to help us generate more traffic and build goodwill/reputation through search engines and social media while effectively promoting our overall brand with compelling content. Other duties the student may complete could include : Content development, including social posts, blog posts, LinkedIn articles, and website copy. Project Objectives: Create and develop an automated search algorithm to scour the internet for open RFPs (Request For Proposals) relevant to our business Create and develop a similar search algorithm to find potential employees who have recently updated online profiles (e.g. LinkedIn) Design a process to manage and track the incoming search data over time, including the ability to set up email alerts.
