Details

The main objective of the project is to streamline care provided from the pediatric practice Omega Pediatrics to patients with depression, ADHD, anxiety, and other behavioral problems. The intern will work with the general pediatrician with extensive experience in managing these conditions. The student will be responsible for improving the workflow for this subset of patients. They will also be involved in reviewing scoring materials which are all done online. Depending on clearance they may be able to sit in on telemedicine visits and also will be involved in creation of materials but for marketing as well as for communication with these patients. They will have the opportunity to choose better tools as well as provide insights based on what they already know from school.

Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

- Understanding of the existing workflow for patients with depression, ADHD, anxiety, and other behavioral problems.

- Identification of areas for improvement in the workflow.

- Development of new tools and materials to streamline care.

- Creation of materials for marketing and communication with these patients.

- Evaluation of existing scoring materials and implementation of better tools.

- Participation in telemedicine visits.

Final deliverables should include:

- A written report summarizing the project and its findings.

- All source code.

- Any materials created for marketing and communication.

Mentorship

The learner will have access to the practitioners of the practice both for mentoring as well as teaching of difficult or unfamiliar concepts. This will be a good introduction to how clinics work as well as the utilization of online tools and telemedicine for clinical care.

There will also be ample opportunity to participate in business meetings as well as marketing meetings. The learner may be able to contribute as a blog writer for our weblog if interested.
