The systemic issue our team asks student teams to address is the significant disconnect between education and the local workforce, resulting in a lack of career awareness and exposure experiences for learners in Lenawee County.


This disconnect manifests as learners graduating without a clear understanding of the career

opportunities available within their community, the skills and education required for

these careers, and the pathways to achieve them. Consequently, there is a mismatch

between the skills that learners acquire during their education and the needs of local

employers, which hinders both learner career readiness and the ability of businesses to

find qualified local talent.

Deliverables

The main goal of this project is for student teams to develop at least one testable

strategy that aims to breakdown the walls between Lenawee County businesses and

the K-12 system in order to provide students with more career exploration opportunities

and increase their career readiness (soft skills), as well as their awareness of the

careers available within their community.
