Main Objective:

Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the Canadian Museums website’s front-end structure and user experience (UX), and deliver a detailed set of professional recommendations and prototypes aimed at improving usability, accessibility, navigation flow, and responsiveness for a broad audience including tourists, students, and cultural organizations.

Deliverables

Tasks and Activities:

Phase 1: Current UX Audit (Weeks 1-2)

  • Review site navigation, structure, responsiveness (desktop and mobile), loading speed, and accessibility.
  • Conduct heuristic evaluation (using principles like Nielsen’s 10 Usability Heuristics).
  • Identify bottlenecks, confusing elements, and optimization opportunities.
  • Perform a basic user testing simulation if possible.

Phase 2: Front-End Code Review (Week 3)

  • Analyze the quality of current HTML, CSS, and JavaScript structure.
  • Recommend performance and SEO enhancements.

Phase 3: UX Improvement Proposal (Weeks 4-5)

  • Design low-fidelity wireframes (and optionally high-fidelity mockups) showing the improved layout and navigation flows.
  • Create a UX/UI Style Guide for the platform, including suggestions for typography, colors, and reusable UI components.

Phase 4: Documentation and Final Report (Weeks 6-8)

  • Assemble a complete UX audit report, annotated screenshots, recommended fixes, wireframes, and technical front-end improvement suggestions.
  • Prepare a final presentation showcasing the before/after analysis.

Deliverables:

  • UX Audit Document (including heuristics evaluation).
  • Front-End Review and Optimization Report.
  • UX/UI Style Guide and Component Library.
  • Set of Wireframes / Mockups (at least for homepage and key sections).
  • Final Presentation Deck.

Innova Museums is an emerging digital interactive media agency dedicated to transforming the way museums connect with the public. We are currently in the startup phase, building the foundations of a comprehensive platform that seeks to offer 360° solutions to cultural institutions.

Our focus is on developing tools that enhance every stage of the visitor experience, starting with the purchase of electronic tickets (e-tickets) and extending to interactive, immersive, and personalized experiences, both within the museum and in virtual environments.

Although we are taking our first operational steps, we have a clear vision, and an ecosystem of projects in development —with the most advanced being Canadian Museums, a digital guide to explore museums and heritage sites nationwide.

Collaborating with students is key for us: not only because we value young talent, but because we believe in creating synergies that benefit both parties. We want this experience to be meaningful, formative, and an opportunity for participants to leave their mark on a cultural initiative with significant potential.
